The award, worth 1,65 million euros, enables the virologist to set up a new working group and laboratory for vaccine development at the University of Leipzig over the next five years. EU Commissioner Stella Kyriakides assures BVMed that EU production will be strengthened and the necessary supply chains secured. In its position paper on the German EU Council Presidency, BVMed advocated the establishment of a European strategic pandemic reserve for medical devices and offered its cooperation in order to prevent the borders within Europe from being closed again. The Biotechnology Days 2021 will take place on September 20th and 21st, 2021 in Stuttgart. After the cancellation of the DBT 2020 in Wiesbaden due to Corona, the initially mentioned date in April 2021 had to be postponed to autumn. The German Biotechnology Days will be organized next year in Stuttgart by BioRegio STERN Management GmbH, in joint responsibility of BIO Deutschland and the working group of the BioRegions. The partner region is the health network BioLAGO eV from Konstanz.
