UKL board members confirmed early

UKL Supervisory Board appoints Dr. Robert Jacob and Prof. Christoph Josten for another term of office.

Leipzig. At its meeting on December 11th, the Supervisory Board of Leipzig University Hospital (UKL) appointed both the Medical Director Prof. Christoph Josten and the Commercial Director Dr. Robert Jacob appointed for another term.

The extension is therefore carried out prematurely before the actual end of the contracts. Dr. Robert Jacob (44) will head the UKL as Commercial Director for another five years from August 2024. Prof. Dr. From October 69, Christoph Josten (2024) will, at his own request, take on the role of Medical Board for only a half-term of two years and six months and thus continue to serve as Medical Board member until the end of March 2027.

I am convinced that both boards of directors will continue to successfully develop the combination of research, teaching and first-class patient care at Leipzig University Hospital in the coming years. ”

About the person: Prof. Dr. Christoph Josten has headed the Clinic for Accident, Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery at Leipzig University Hospital since 1997, and since 2014 he has been Managing Director of the Clinic for Orthopedics, Trauma Surgery and Plastic Surgery. The 69-year-old trauma surgeon was also the medical-scientific head of the Department of Operative Medicine for several years. In April 2018, Josten took over the position of dean of the Medical Faculty at the University of Leipzig. He was appointed Medical Director of the UKL on October 1, 2019.

Dr. Robert Jacob has been the UKL's commercial director since August 1, 2019. Previously, he headed corporate controlling at Charité, Germany's largest university hospital. This was preceded by positions as head of faculty controlling and as commercial director of the Charité medical faculty. Before moving to university medicine, the Dresden native worked for several years as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company at home and abroad. He wrote his dissertation in the field of economic and social psychology at the University of Cologne.
