VivoSensMedical and health insurance companies renew cooperation

The Leipzig company VivoSensMedical and the health insurance companies BIG Direktgesundheit and HEK – Hanseatic Health Insurance have renewed their cooperation. For women who are insured there, the health insurance companies will continue to cover diagnostics with OvulaRing as an additional service. This now also includes taking over the previous personal contribution. The medical product supports women who want to have children with cycle diagnostics.

Good news for women who want to have children: The health insurance companies BIG Direktgesundheit and HEK – Hanseatic Health Insurance will continue to cover diagnostics with OvulaRing for up to twelve months as an additional service outside of standard care. And the health insurance companies now also cover the full contribution of 99 euros that the insured previously had to pay. The free offer is available to 550.000 insured women and could save them from stressful fertility treatments.

OvulaRing was developed by gynecologist and reproductive medicine specialist Prof. Henry Alexander. By precisely measuring the core body temperature, the certified medical device creates a cyclofertilogram (CFG) - an exact image of the female cycle. An algorithm uses this to determine the individual CFG score, with the help of which the doctor can use telemedicine to identify the patient's cycle and fertility health and initiate further therapies. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, over 5.000 women are currently using OvulaRing.

Sebastian Alexander, managing director of Leipzig-based VivoSensMedical, is pleased about the renewed cooperation: “The collaboration with both health insurance companies has been running smoothly for years, which is why we were quickly on the same page this time too. We were able to significantly simplify the entire process for doctors and patients. I am particularly pleased that even more women can now fulfill their desire to have children, as the financial hurdle has been completely eliminated.”

Doris Scharrel, Schleswig-Holstein state chairwoman of the Professional Association of Gynecologists, welcomes the new contract conditions. “The digital support of this modern cycle diagnostic supports women’s independence and their reproductive self-determination.”

In the future, doctors and insured persons will be enrolled digitally and with the support of experienced care service providers, so-called management companies. They take care of the entire contract management and thus relieve the medical professionals of the administrative tasks. Other health insurance companies can join the selective contract and are welcome.

VivoSenseMedical, founded in 2011, is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labor and Transport (SMWA), the State Ministry for Science and Art (SMWK) and the city of Leipzig. OvulaRing was supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology as part of an EXIST start-up grant.
