REVIEW: CHRISTMAS MARKET IN THE BIO CITY FOR THE BENEFITS OF THE WOLFSTRÄNE EV ASSOCIATION

Last Tuesday, while strolling through the BIO CITY foyer, visitors were able to purchase homemade liqueurs, various delicacies, pottery and lots of creative items from their own production and get in the mood for Christmas with punch and cinnamon waffles.

As with the donation markets of previous years, employees from various institutions, associations and companies (BBZ, biosaxony, c-LEcta GmbH, Schubert Laborfachhandel, Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology IZI, student initiative bts, Techniker Krankenkasse) offered creative and culinary products own production for sale.

Although the market attracted fewer visitors this year compared to previous years, a considerable amount of donations was still raised: just over 2000 euros were collected at the stands, of which 1083,50 euros were collected from the BBZ working group stands alone.

This year, the proceeds from the Christmas market will benefit the Wolfsträne eV association. The association offers children and young people grief support after the death of a close relative.

The crowning conclusion of the market was the traditional Advent singing, this time with the choir ChorAlle from ZEOK e. V. The association would like to support intercultural and interreligious exchange between people from different backgrounds and increase mutual understanding. The repertoire that the choir offered for listening and singing along was correspondingly varied: from the East German Christmas carol “Are the lights lit”, about the English pop classic “Last Chrismas” and a Jewish folk song to one that is as sophisticated as it is beautiful portions “Ederlezi” by the Bosnian composer Goran Bregović.
