Online Event: Long Night of the Sciences Leipzig 2021

Online for the first time: The Long Night of the Sciences Leipzig on 16 July 2021 from 18:00! The children’s program starts at 14:00, the live opening show starts at 16:30 and the virtual doors of the Leipzig science family open at 18:00.

Opening for small and large curious people

In view of current events, the scientific institutions have decided together with the city of Leipzig that the event will take place online in 2021. That’s why everything is different, but a lot remains.

From 2:00 p.m., small explorers can choose from an interactive offer with tours, workshops, games and questionnaires. Here not only medical devices are illuminated from all sides, but also new acquaintances are made, such as those with horse horse! Friend Teddy has to go to the hospital and is happy about being accompanied. This can be ordered comfortably and free of charge home, so that you can treat Teddy together with your children. Elsewhere, people ask whether grammar can sometimes work differently and how much of a monkey is in each of us.

After this foretaste for the little ones, the official opening show begins at 16:30. Live streamed and with many effects, Jack Pop invites you to marvel and participate.

Killing, crawlies, toilet and putt: A special science festival

From 6:00 p.m., everyone is invited to look over the shoulders of the scientists or join in and also to discuss with them (Zoom, teams and more make it possible). Live or as a recording, 108 Leipzig scientific institutions present their research sites, their topics and their enthusiasm for science in a variety of ways.

Learn more about femicides and what an important role insects play when they “walk over corpses”. Do you want to know what potato soup and putt have to do with statistics? Accompany nocturnal flower visitors on a live tour through the Botanical Garden or visit the “sanitary tower” of the HTWK – where a toilet becomes a laboratory. All information at:

The 7. Long Night of the Sciences Leipzig

Since 2008, Leipzig University, the universities, the institutes of the research communities and companies in cooperation with the city of Leipzig have been inviting visitors to the Long Night of the Sciences. On this evening, (almost) all Leipzig scientific institutions open their doors and gates to Leipzig residents. 2021 interactive and digital, to become smarter in many ways – as in each of the Long Nights of the Sciences in Leipzig!
