In 2003, the foundation stone for Leipzig's life science and tech park, the BioCity Campus Leipzig, was laid with the opening of the biotechnology and start-up center BIO CITY LEIPZIG. To date, over 4.500 highly qualified jobs have been created in research institutions and companies, including white and red biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, cell and gene therapy and diagnostics.
