7,4 million euros capital reserve for a new innovation center at the old trade fair

The Bio-Cluster at the Alte Messe, which is already successful, is set to grow further. That's what a bill on December 14th was about, which was decided unanimously by the city council without further discussion. Because time was short. Leipzig still had to apply for funding in 2022 in order to receive funding for a new innovation center for biotechnology and life science in the southern part of the former exhibition hall 12.

In order to be able to apply for a grant at all, the Leipziger Gewerbehof GmbH & Co KG as the builder can prove that they have made their own contribution. And that's exactly what the LGH got on December 14th by resolution of the city council: 7,39 million euros as a capital reserve.

What is the capital reserve used for?

"This year's resolution is a prerequisite for ensuring the overall financing of the measure and for applying for funding for a commercial center on the basis of the GRW Infra funding guideline (joint task for improving the regional economic structure)," emphasizes the submission from the administration.
